Making of

It’s very easy: Mix cream, eggs, cinnamon and vanilla sugar together in a bowl. Melt some butter in a pan. Soak your sliced bread in the cream-mixture and bake it slowly on medium heat. It’s ready when the bread is crispy from the outside.

Funny enough; while reading your post I suddenly realised that although I totally love french toast and have eaten it many many times, I have never, ever made it myself!! How strange is that really? It is something I will have to change now that I know how to make these delicacies!

In France you do it with milk and call them “pain perdu”, because it’s best when you make it with old bread - that is then no longer “perdu”, for it “drinks” more milk.
My favourite is with some lemon juice and sugar on it :)

Mmmm- I have such a horrible time making french toast! I have tried and tried and it always turns out mushy and gross! I much prefer the one where you cut a hole in a piece of bread and cook an egg in the hole! I can’t remember the clever name for that…. -e
